On Thursday 29th March, ESK held their annual International day. The day aimed to raise money for Build Africa: a charity that works to build schools and supply training and equipment for teachers in Kenya and Uganga. The theme of this year’s international day was ‘Africa’ in support of the charity.

Business students, the ESK charity club: Helping Hands, along with Sixth form students worked hard to put their skills, hobbies, interest and passion to use to create unique and delicious food, games, and jewellery stalls.

Dance and drama and music students created beautiful performances and dances and sang in a choir that reflected tribal and cultural influences of Africa on the West.

The day started with performances, and  went on to a house poster competition supported by the English, French, Art and Humanities departments, to discover and learn about countries, cultures and  the history of tribes in Africa. The day ended with a fashion show in which students shared their traditional tribal designs and face-painting details.

The day has raised around 12,000tl, which will all be donated to Build Africa, a charity that ESK have a long-standing relationship with and with whom we are proud to support the development and equality of education that this charity works for.

Thank you to all those teachers, staff and students who made the day the wonderful success that it was. It was a true joy to see everyone laughing, creating, singing, dancing, working and sharing this great day together and work as a team towards a cause that is so close to our hearts.
