IB Visual Arts exhibition

This week the final IB Visual Arts exhibition showcased the work of Vladislava Matveeva in Year 13. The exhibition’s theme was ‘Force and Power’ and Vladislava exhibited a range of work featuring different processes and techniques. She explored her theme through investigation into emotional forces, physical and political forces and power. A two metre squared image of Stalin at the start of the exhibition grabbed everyone’s attention in the reception area and was made up of 144 individual squares of tracing paper, all painstakingly assembled against the glass block window. Other work included detailed pencil drawing, expressive ink drawing, batik, painting, digital film and concluded in a final performance dance piece featuring shadow silhouettes. The exhibition was well attended and everyone enjoyed writing their comments on the mirror Vlada had provided at the exhibition exit.
